An excursion to the smelting works: the production of enamel

Enamel has a glassy character that fascinated people in ancient times and stimulated the production of jewelery. It is created by a melting process of inorganic raw materials, which are applied to a mostly metallic carrier. The old Mycenaeans already enameled around 1800 BC. Gold plates, the modern man also uses the material for bathtubs and pots. How does the production of enamel work?

Enamel always needs a support

If your enamel bathtub is badly soiled, do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp cleaners. The material, while very sturdy, can easily be damaged. We recommend soaking with detergents and aftertreatment with rinse aid.
