Gravel varieties are named after their origin and use

Gravel is, along with sand, the decisive material when erecting structures and fixing them on the ground. The gravel varieties are divided into three classes, which are determined according to the grain sizes of the individual sorts. The transition from fine gravel to sand is fluid.

Classification and Application

If you want to use gravel as an optical design element, you should always inspect the rock yourself first. Different origins, mostly rivers, give the grape varieties their names. From this no optical appearance can be deduced.
