How much watts should a toaster have?

The wattage of a toaster should be crucial before buying. However, relative to the power consumption rather secondary. But that does not mean that a toaster could not help save energy. However, in a different context. How much watts a toaster has is critical because of its performance.

The power in watts with the toaster

The principle of operation of toasters suggests that a lot of electricity is needed. The power output is measured in watts or kilowatts, as with all other consumers. However, the power consumption has no really high impact on energy saving. A toaster with around 1,000 watts or 1 kilowatt, which is used three to five minutes a day, is on average between four and eight euros per year. Wenig Not very relevant with regard to power consumption and energy saving

The toaster does not really pay to directly save energy. But indirectly. If you were to use the oven instead of the toaster, that would be considerably more expensive. The use of a toaster thus helps to reduce power consumption in order to make less use of other, more energy-intensive appliances. Leistung Watts in the context of other properties

The power in watts of a toaster is important along with other properties. Therefore, the following attributes and characteristics must always be set in context to each other:

Wattage

cheap no-name device or brand toaster

  • double-slot or long-slot toaster
  • longitudinal and double slot toaster
  • double slot toaster (or 2-slot toaster ) require slightly less power than long-haul devices. Because with these two slots, the heat of at least the middle heating coil can be used in both directions, while long-slot devices require long heating wires, in which the heat that is emitted to the outside, remains completely unused.

Power Depends on Device Design

Optimal performance is achieved with double slotted toasters around 800 to 1,000 watts or from 0,8 to 1 kW, with long slit scanners between 1 and 1,2 kW or 1,000 to 1,200 watts. Basically, the more watts the toaster has, the hotter the wires become. As a result, the toast is roasted much faster. But now the quality of the toaster comes into play.

Why cheap tobos are literally cheap and not cheap

Cheap devices are usually equipped with simple alloy wires, which are not yet protected. High-quality toasters offer more solid heating wires, which are made of a better alloy and also protected with mats. Thus, the lifetime of a quality toaster is likely to be significantly longer. No-name devices with a high wattage may therefore mean that the toaster does not work well in advance. Quality makes a difference.

Tips & TricksIn addition to power consumption in watts, other factors should also play a role. It may also make sense to read our guide to fixing toasters so you can better see where the important differences in toasters are.
