If you are wondering if there is a latex paint on your wall, it is best to first look at the special properties of this type of paint. Coatings made of latex paint look a bit different than normal wall paint - and they also behave very specifically:

A coat of latex paint is washable.

  • The surface has a light to strong shine. Dirt can be removed more easily than on ordinary emulsion paint.
  • High-quality latex coatings are even scrub-resistant.
  • These properties make it easy to see if a wall coating is a latex paint. Take a close look at the paint, test its water repellency, and see if it rubs off.

You probably want to recognize and arrange the latex paint on your wall to rework the surface. Note that latex paint is relatively difficult to paint with less "rich" colors, a normal disperse paint will probably not last on such a surface.
